Hey Is there anyone in the Columbus, Ohio area that is interested in helping me install a new motor in my truck? I just moved back a few years back after retiring from the Marines. I did look around for some installers to do it but they were either crooks or had no more knowledge then me. I actually want to do the work myself, but not knowing anyone makes it hard to do an engine swap by yourself. I have all the tools and have a great shop to do the work. Or I don't have a problem paying someone to help or do the job. But I want it done right. I will even take it to your shop if you want. If your in the area and want a project to keep you busy while the snow flies and make a couple bucks while helping out someone drop me a line. v/r. Ken

You could do it yourself, I never did it before and last year did a swap between 2 burbs. You just need help when you are putting it in with manouvering it around. I bought my engine puller at big lotts for like 99 bucks. Just get a good hanes manual. And if you have any questions just ask them on here.

ya, its pretty easy, switching a engine in an older truck looks worse then it really is. and ur '84 is easier them the newer TBI motors with all the wires. and buying a cheap engine hoist is a VERY useful tool. not just for motors but building these trucks. i think the only time u need someone is to help u position it into the mounts. o ya, and getting an engine leveler is good too. it just allows u to tip the motor forwards or backwards to get it in easy. heres a pic to one. http://www.northerntool.com/images/product/images/14589_lg.jpg

hell man, u were a marine! go for it!

I'm a few miles west of Columbus and wouldn't mind lending a hand if you need it. I know what you mean, it can be tricky to install a motor by yourself and it's not much fun.

USSkoval - thanks for the offer to help, if your serious and can give a hand why don't you give me a call or drop a line and we can talk it over. I started today transferring everything over to the new long block. It has been so long (20+ years) since I have done an engine swap I really don't know how far to go. I will be more then happy to pay you for your time while you are helping. Give me a call when you get a chance 614-580-1664 or [email protected]... Ken
