Need help, K5\'er stranded in Victorville with a EFI problem

Chris Raffo (retroblazer) is stuck in Victorville CA right now trying to find out why his '94-ish sub (TBI 383) won't run. He's supposed to be in chicago for turkey tomorrow, so this is obviously pretty bad.
Anyone know how to find Jason "zcarczar"? He's in Apple Valley near there and might be of some help in some way.
Otherwise, the problem is the timing keeps advancing and retarding by itself, surging.
They replaced the map sensor, O2 sensor, verified correct operation of the fuel pressure regulator and pressure level and checked the ECM by replacing it with a new one. There may be more that they've tried but that's what I know. Also, it's not throwing any codes.
Any ideas?
Anyone in the area have a TBI chip that would run it without the distributor or know if he could delete the dist. and run a manual version without wigging out the ecm?
Thanks for any help. This situation sucks.

Can he not unplug the EST (i think thats the name for it) the plug on the drivers side of firewall, manually set timing and keep it going? I think est is also affected by the knock sensor, maybe its screwin up?

I GOT A CHIP FROM MINE IF IT WILL WORK. NO DIST CONTROL. COULD FEDEX IT... GOT A ECM TOO FROM A 91.

We'll look into unplugging and see if it will work, thanks.

Stephen,

How about the knock sensor? If that was sending erratic signal to ECM, that would advance and retard the timing unnecessarily. Do they have any kind of scanner with them?

Stephen, I posted on the so cal board, Mike (blazen91) should see it shortly and Jason (zcarczar) will hopefully see it as well. Jason works (dad owns) at a chevy dealership in apple valley so they could probably help him out, don't have there phone #'s though.

Re: Need help, K5\'er stranded in Victorville with a EFI problem

throttle position sensor can cause the surging if it isn't set properly.

Did you guys get it figured out yet? I could possibly run over there and help them. Do you know where they are at? My cell phone number is (760)963-0936.
