Ok i have a 1977 blazer 350.I also just recently purchased a 1986 gmc jimmy. It was in a fire the dash is burned up and alot of the wiring. My question should i try to rebuild this one are take the doors and the transmission and transfer case and put in the 1977 blazer,i kinda like the idea of having the 700 r4 instead of the turbo 350.Let me know what you guys think

Upside - overdrive

Downside - 700s tend to be a turd that need a lot of fixin. I would consider doing an update/rebuild before using it.

As for lengths and other compatability, I don't have any good details.

Good luck either way!

I had an 85 with a 700r4. I had it rebuilt, and installed a B&M tranny cooler. Despite the precautions the tranny blew. It shot fluid all over the exhaust manifolds which caught fire. Bye bye, Blazer. My 74 has a Turbo 350 in it and it has been bulletproof. My 88 has a 700, and I am having to baby it. As soon as it goes I will be putting a 350 in its place.
