Need help on Rockwell 12\" ring gear, rotor replacement.

I know this is off-topic, but still hope someone will be able to help. I'm helping my friend change his rear brake rotors on his '88 Pace Arrow RV. The only info on the axle he could give me is that it is a 12" ring gear rockwell. He has it jacked and secured, with the wheels off and has removed the cover plates from the hubs which were held on by 5 bolts. Inside, the end of the axleshaft looks like a 4" dia gear that meshes with the hub. In the center is what looks like a 1/2" fine thread hole to attach a puller or something. thats as far as he got, he told me the info over the phone. I assume the axleshaft pulls out and theres a locking nut of some type to remove. Does anyone have any experience with this axle. His literature says it was also used on some P and G vans.
thanks in advance

I remember dealing with a Dana 80 in a 3500HD that had the same hub/axle configuration. I never found out if there is a puller for it. First we tried bolting both ends of a chain with a bolt into the hole in the shaft; then loop it around a spare junk axle shaft and swing it like a croquet mallet. (Similar effect to a large slide-hammer). Didn't work /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif So we found a high grade bolt, a length of chain, and pulled it out with a forklift /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
