Trying to replace The turn signal switch on 1970 blazer. Automatic, no tilt.

Do I have to disconnect the half moon wire loom in order to thread the wires through then reconnect the wires once threaded through? Any tips on how to do this? Thanks all.

yes this is easiest way take a good picture before you remove wires from connector. tie or tape a piece of wire or strong string to turn signal switch wires before you pull out of column.
tape new wires to string and use as guide to get new wire back through column.

Thanks guys. What a pain in the arse!

after much “wiggling” I was able to get this cup off, but am now worried about getting back together. One blog I read said to put the signal, support piece and cup back together as one then thread the wires. Not sure that will be possible with this one.
I ended up cutting the old wires, and will then thread the new ones through and reinstall. Hope the kit i am getting comes disconnected from the half moon piece to save on wear and tear from having to disconnect and then reconnect. Anyway, thanks again.

Compare the plugs too, mine was one pin off so I had to pull all the wires out of the new, and re-pin the old.

My experience was the new replacement assembly came with the half-moon connector that fit perfectly into the existing one. A word of caution: be sure to take all the slack out of the end of the wiring cluster closest the horn button. Any extra slack wire length translates into friction against the inside of the steering wheel hub every time you turn the wheel. And that eventually shorts out the wire. (That's where the smoke and acrid smell emanating from the horn button will be coming from.) Tug the new half moon connector and wires slowly but thoroughly all the way towards the bottom of the steering column to take out the slack.
