Heres the set up: 1987 K-5 with stock axels, 6" Superlift with 35"'s. I would say that it is used 70% on road and 30% off and when its off its used and not really so much abused.

I use it for going out to hunt and to fish so the most aggressive terrain it would see is the occasional mud hole and a pasture.

Im looking to replace these ASAP, but have no local dealers in the area with a good price, so it will be either mail order ot internet, but I have no idea on what is a good shock.

They all look the same to me, except they have diff colors and numbers.

i'm in the market for some new shocks too since i just stuck a 4" lift (used) on mine and the shocks aren't so great. superlift has a scratch and dent store on ebay that has some really good deals. i checked yesterday and didn't see the right part for my application though. i don't think they had any for 6" lifts either, but it can't hurt to check. i installed rs5000s on my dd about 7 years ago and really like them. my k5 had them too until i installed the lift. they're nothing fancy and chicks have said my ride is too stiff, but we're talking about big trucks here, not luxury cars.

ive got a set of rs5000's on my truck now and they're really good shock, even with being used. i got a guy willing to sell me 4 edelbrock ias shocks for $100 for a 4" lift. they're supposedly really good shocks for taking bumps, plus i always wanted to try a set of them anyway.

chicks have said my ride is too stiff,

hmm......... Thats strange... Most women like a good stiff ride. I have never had any complaints. Mabe you dont have enough lift.

I kinda like Rough country Nitro 9000 shocks. They have a good ride on and off road. They make them for most sizes of lifts. 2, 4, 6, 10 -12". Reaonably priced
I have found women seem like 10"-12" lifts the best.:D

BTW Pro comp, Rough country, Superlift, ECT are pretty much all the same shocks.
There are only 2 major shock manufactures in the US. Gaberial and Monroe/rancho.
They make most all of the aftermarket shocks.

What type would make for less of the dump truck feel? I guess I could just sit down and read what all there is to say about them on the advertisments, but they all sound alike.

I think you're kidding yourself with the 10"-12" of lift. If you do a "poll" I'm sure you will find that most women find that much lift to have too harsh of a ride.
