Ok now that I hopefully got some of your attention.

I have a 1991 GMC Jimmy About a month ago it started having issues starting so I replaced the cap rotor plugs and wires. Still had issues so then I replaced the fuel filter and it started a little bit easier. Then it got hot as he** out here in Vegas and I started having issues again. So I started researching this. When I went to pull codes there was 14 and 42. So I checked and the PO never put an O2 back in when the headers were put in. So i pulled it and had a buddy weld in a bung and replaced the O2. I also had a spare ESTC laying around so I swapped that out as well as the CTS. Now I am getting a 44 when I pull codes. Im going to replace the EGR. Also I have 10psi fuel pressure. Im kinda lost here and need some help.

Thanks
The Cheese

So I replaced the EGR and she started right up. Went out for a test drive and couldn't even get on the throttle without it wanting to stall out. I'm confused now because if she is not in gear I can rev the motor up no problem but as soon as i put it in drive she falls on her face. Wouldn't even move 10 ft without stalling out. I'm going to replace the fuel pump in the morning and recheck the fuel pressure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say 10 is low, but does it drop more when in gear? *Normally* if it's a fuel problem of any type, if you are within spec (GM spec is 9-13PSI) it will only hold some sort of pressure at idle. Pretty commonly stated that the lower the pressure, even within GM's range, it can cause issues. If it stalls due to fuel, your pressure will go well below 9 when you give it gas. I'd consider it a waste of (more) time and parts to throw a fuel pump at this.

What is code 44? Is that a lean error, or...? I'm too lazy to go look them up.

Code 44 is lean. And it's not much of a waste sine the PO cut out the bed to access the tank. And I had a spare pump on the shelf. So I swapped it out this morning and that fixed it. Kinda feel like a noob now since I believed it had a new pump in it. Guess you can't take people's word anymore.

Anymore unless I can see/hear it run/operate before purchase, I assume it's junk and will pay accordingly. Only takes a few bad sellers to ruin it for everyone, but that's about where things are now. Glad you got it fixed.

Was it the pump or the little hose that connects the pump outlet to the sending unit/fuel line?

It was the pump and now that I have good pressure. There is a leak at the fuel pressure regulator. So I'm going to rebuild the throttle body and put in an adjustable one with a gauge.

So I picked up a throttle body rebuild kit today and started to pull it apart. Got the regulator apart and found this.

Never seen one this bad. And now I need a new spring but can't find one all by itself. Any ideas?

Wow, that's pretty bad alright, never seen that before. Have you checked ebay? I would think vendors selling TBI rebuild kits and the like may have other small parts to sell.

No idea if the spring is different, but I know there were at least two regulator styles used, and with that no clue if the springs were different to match.

I may have some TBI parts at home but it will probably take a PM after 430pm to get me to remember to look. ;)

So where is all that crap coming from that is filling the regulator?

People usually forget the most important part when rebuilding the TBI, having the injectors serviced!
