I can't figure out what wire feeds my ignition.
I also have no idea where it goes, after the starter.

I thought it was the red wire that leads up to the junction block on the firewall. (next to the master cylinder).
But that appears to have one red wire that leads to a connector on the A/C,
And another that was cut off by the PO...

I have no power to my fuse panel, or ignition after wiring up my isolator, and new battery/starter cables; And, replacing my fried alternator.

I know the cables/wires are all done correctly, as I've checked them 5x, now.
I can't seem to follow the thick red wire from the starter, as it passes behind the engine block, through split loom.

I replaced the fusible links from the starter, and checked the one at the Alt.
Alt has power from the battery,to the sense wire, and through the red wire (after the link), to the firewall side of the fuse panel.

The in cab side of the fuse panel, ONLY has power to the left-most 3 circuits.
I don't remember which they are, but I think it's B/U, CTSY, and something.

So....

BATTERY- 12.3v, new bat>starter wire.

Alternator- new, 94A, new Alt.>isolator wire, good fusible link, sense wire shows power from isolator>Alt.>fuse block (firewall side), but not in cab side(?)

Starter- works, replaced fusible links, has cont. to junct. block, can't chase Ign. Wire behind engine block.

Ignition- has no power when keyed/ haven't checked Ign. switch, yet.

I hope this makes sense to you guy's....
Im just really frustrated, chasing this stupid gremlin around...

I am not sure you are talking about the feed to or from the ignition, but I know the RED is continuous, the purple is keyed, both are big wires guage 4 or 6.
If you can't figure it out soon I could swing by and maybe see if I can't figure it out.

Sounds like you are missing the second feeder to the fuse panel through the junction block. There should be two heavy gauge red wires running into the cab, and two heavy gauge wires (pink for ignition and purple for starter) coming out.

It seems to be random how those wires are run. Sometimes both feeders come off the starter, sometimes one comes off the little distribution block mounted up high by the brake booser, sometimes one comes from the alternator. Sounds like if you are just chasing one, you are missing the second.

FOUND IT....

The wire feeding the rear of the fuse panel, at the firewall, was burnt up inside.
It was only allowing ~8v through it...

It lit up a test light, so I passed by it a few days ago...
Tossed a DVM on it today, and figured out the low voltage.

Replaced the wire, and all appears to be good.

Everything runs properly. :D

Thanks to all you guy's!
I think we all knew it was something dumb... :haha:

Was it a red wire coming off the starter?

It sounds like a fusible link. If so, you can't replace it with just any wire. It needs to be the correct size.
It acts as a fuse. The factory ones usually have a special insulation that will not catch fire when the wire burns out, but modern insulation is pretty flameproof anyway.

But, if you put in a larger size wire, then its the same as putting a penny behind an old style house fuse.

If it was burned up, then it may have "blown". Which means that you may have a short somewhere.
