Hey guys I just purchased my old 75 blazer back after almost 2 years. Throw out bearing went out about 3 months ago and they parked it. I asked them if they would sell it back to me. The manager said that he would have the clutch replaced before I took it at no cost to me. Perks of me being the assistant manager. Here is my problem. The mechanic and his helper put in the clutch last night and said all that was left to do was to adjust the clutch. Well i got in to test it out and the clutch is very hard. He adjusted the clutch in and out and it is still hard. What would cause the clutch to be that hard? It moves a few inches and and stops. Any ideas?

Sounds like the linkage bound up. But if all they changed was the TO bearing, i dont know what else they could have screwed up? Unless the put the TO bearing in wrong. If the TO was crooked on the fork, it would bind up pretty easily. Is the fork seated all the way on the ball stud? Just wondering.

Thanks Cabledawgfor your reply. They changed the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearig. I will check to see if the fork is seated. If not I will pull it back out and check everything. thanks again.

I found alittle time and went and checked the clutch fork and it moves up and down and in and out. I take it that is not normal. So I gues out it comes again.

One more thing. I asked they guys what they did and they explainded the whole installation. He said he torqued the pressure plate to 35 ft/lbs. Is that right? It has beeen awhile since i installed a clutch but it doesn't sound right. Maybe I am wrong. What is the torque specs for the pressure plate to flywheel? thanks again.

Thanks thunder. Thats one less thing I need to check.

Did they put a diaphragm clutch or a three finger clutch?
The three finger is quite stiff, might be the problem if you were used to the softer diaphragm style.
I would still check everything they did just because i don't trust anyone with my truck.:D

imiceman44 it was the diaphram clutch. If it was just a little stiff I could understand but this sucker just wont move but a few inches. I turned the engine over for a split second with the key to see if the clutch was even engage. I turn the key and the truck wants to move forward. So I guess my only problem to figure out is wh the clutch pedal won't move forward. Thanks again guys.
