I have a 91 stock 350 with TBI. I have had no problems until this week. The Jimmy started fine but died within a mile of the house. It is very difficult to get started and keep running. The motor surges and then almost dies, then surges, almost dies, and keeps that up until it finally dies or I turn it off. The exhaust smells like it is very rich, but there is no smoke of any kind coming out. The motor dies if put into reverse or drive. In park the motor will die if the gas is pressed quickly. Pressed slowly, it will only rev slighting higher than what it is doing at idle before dying.

I know absolutely nothing about TBI systems. I assume since I have fuel the fuel pump is working and fuel filter is not clogged. Fuel pressure regulator? Where should I start to see if it is the TBI? There are no check engine lights on.

It has been over 100 every day this week but it hasn't been driven more than 4 miles at a time. Could part of the ECM, ICM, or some other electrical system be fried?

It could still be the fuel pump or filter. I would suspect the filter first.
The fastest way to diagnose the fuel problem would be by measuring the fuel pressure.
Unfortunately GM did not put a connection for doing that like some other makers did. You have to buy and install an adapter, and I would not bother going that route yet.

If it smells like it is running rich, you usually see some black smoke.

I would suspect the ignition system if you smell gas.
You could try pulling a spark plug wire off, inserting a screwdriver into it and placing it next to a ground.
Watch for a fat blue spark as you crank.
If its weak and yellow, or you don't see one, your ignition module in the distributor or something else in there could be going bad.

I would check that and also change the fuel filter if it has been a while.

I tried jumping the ALDL to see if there were any stored codes but got nothing. No Check Engine light at all. Is the light supposed to come on when you turn the key on and which instrument cluster has the light?
