I did search, but only got more confused.

I need to replace all the U-joints in both my driveshafts.

The front driveshaft is the stock 1979 driveshaft. It has a CV-Joint near the flange at the transfer (NP203). I found that these should be 5-3147X on the CV, and 5-153X near the axle. But another site said these part numbers were obsolete but didn't mention new, another search mentioned part No. 5-1306-1x for the front. Also, these appear to be greaseable. What are the non-greaseable part Nos.?

For the rear driveshaft, I'm running a CV with same U-joints as the front CV, so it's easy once I figure out the front one. On the axle side I found 5-178X and 5-153X. Which one is it?

I have a Dana 60 & 14 Bolt. Both had the same yoke size as my old 10 bolt & 12 bolt, and fitted without any mods to the driveline.

I suggest there should be a sticky with common part numbers.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Big Blzn. Unfortunately my membership expired long ago, so I can't read it. Now I realize why I couldn't find more useful info. Guess it's time to renew.

If you renew your membership you need to be used as an example as to why the $25 is worth it. Hell, the "Post yer part numbers" thread is wirth the $25 alone.:D

The 5-3147x and 5-153x on the front should be the right joints. These are Spicer brand part numbers and greaseable. The 5-153X is a 1310 series joint and the 5-3147x is a 3R series joint. If you have the same cv on the rear then the 5-3147x is what you need . The rear joint should be a 5-153x if it was the same as the half ton 12 bolt. The 5-178x is a 1350 series joint found on one ton trucks. If you can't find the exact part number just tell them you need 1310 and 3R joints and the part store should be able to cross them over to what ever brand they carry.
