Hey guys im in some trouble here. I brought the truck to the exhaust shop with a walker y pipe, and my new muffler. the ypipe was the part number for the 1986k5. I got the right part but the ypipe does not fit. the mechanic says the passenger side mounting/flanges are smaller so it dosnt fit. He cant fab a ypipe and im looking to get a premade one. I would need to keep reordering ypipes but he said they charge a 30% restocking fee and cant do it, thats gonna kill me too. I really need to find out what ypipe goes on the engine. They destroyed the old one taking it off and im pretty SOL.

Does the guy not know how to use a measuring tape and telephone? If it were me I'd be glad to know what an asshat this guy is already and take it somewhere else, even if I needed to tow it. He must have forgot the part where he is the exhaust "expert".

Yeah i'd take it somewhere else. I don't understand why he can't find a flange to fit. Our trucks are everywhere and you'd think they'd be able to find one and weld it up on your y-pipe...??

Not sure of the part number. did he specify why it wouldn't work other than the flanges??

okay i was at work so i couldnt reply. About 15 min after i posted he called and said his mistake, the ypipe is right but the way the studs go in is weird and hes gonna need someone else whos better to mess with it a bit. The engine isnt the stock motor and im not sure what it is. No numbers on the block in the usual spots. all the emmisions is ripped off along with the heat riser. Ill let you guys know tommorow. Whoever did this exhaust before really fubard it and these guys gotta fix it.
