need help!

alright, And where does the purple wire Lead to? From the starter? if I cant figure it out I'd just like to run a fresh wire.

and Where would the fuse be on the wire IF there is even one?

and idk if theres a such thing but starter relay?

Been looking at my schematics. Looks like it come from the ignition switch, through the safety switch to the solenoid.

No fuses in that wire that I can see. And the starter relay is the solenoid.

Its real simple, I think you are overthinking it.

There is a battery wire run to the ignition switch. It is fused either by a fuse, or one of the fuse links. When you turn the key to start, it hooks the wire to the battery terminal.

The power goes from the switch through the safety switch to the solenoid. And thats it.

If you have power to the rest of the stuff when you turn the key on, it should work. If you don't have power to anything that is supposed to come on with the key, thats the problem.

In other words, fan, gauges, radio.

yes my lights work. gauge lights work. radio . I dont know about gauges. I dont have a oil gauge installed. and my temp gauge i dont think it works anymore.
so I guess Ill check out the Neutral saftey switch.

Does the starter work when you jump to the purple wire with the starter mounted? If so, then its somewhere in that purple wire. I think it stays purple all the way through. If you see a purple wire on the safety switch, that should be it.

its too late to go outside and work on it. Its cold!

Yeah, and its getting late here. I will be online sometime tomorrow, not sure when. Maybe it will work in the morning.....

okay and now today its raining. but I went out in the rain. wired the starter back up. bolted it up. and it works.. But now I think the timing is off. or I need to spray starting fluid down the carb. the engine sat for a while. all it does is just crank over

Take the air cleaner cover off, dribble a small amount of gas down the carb, put the cover back on and get the can with the gas in it away from the truck.

If it fires and tries to run then, you either have a bad fuel pump, really old gas, or a stuck float.

I assume its a carburetor.

yes it's carb.

I'm still kinda leaning towards bad timing. I had to swap the manifold. carb Dist. and basically everything onto this block
i havent hooked up a timing light to it yet. but I'd assume it has to get started first. lol
