Need Input...Funny sound coming from Carb.

I'm working on my freinds 80 K5 Blazer..I rebuilt the Carb, checked the timing..Everything is right on..Just doesn't make good power..When the candles at lit, there's a weird sound that comes out of the carb...I'm thinking the valve lash is too tight...Need to re-adjust...Anybody with any input?

Have you hooked up a vacuum gauge to it?
