I have always had too many projects and always thought that's OK, I have the room, and don't need the money.
Well that got even worse when I bought a new home and rented the older one, keeping some of my junk in the old one and then filling the new one too.
Now I lost my old house and am moving my **** to the new and I need to down size.
So some of the projects have to go or be combined.
I always wanted a strong tow truck and had a nice candidate, a crew cab with no engine and I had my perkins 5.9l TD marked for it.
I have a 3/4 ton sub with a TD 6.2 that I can't seem to get running.
I have a nice Blazer chalet all stock, and I have a Jeep Wagoneer (4 door 110" wheel base for those who don't know jeeps). with a broken tranny and a good 360 V8.
Now that I have a Big Rig, I don't really need the crew cab for towing, even though I like the crew cab truck.

So I came up with a couple of scenarios:

Scenario A:

1 -put the perkins in the sub, it would make a great all around vehicle, but it would take a lot of work and time which I already don't have much of.
On the other hand it's been sitting for 6 years, what a little more time.

2 -Take that 6.2l TD out figure out the problems, and toss it in the Chalet, I alsways wanted to make it diesel, I will no matter what but not necessarily that engine.

3 -Put my other 6.2 N/A in the waggy and put my HDth400/208 or even my nice 700/208 and call it good. The waggy is already built as a wheeler and will probably be my best option for real off road, just needs a good powertrain.

Scenario B:

1 -Get the TD 6.2l checked by a pro, or get MaxPF's 6.2 and toss the Turbo on it and put it back in the Sub.

2 - Put my other 6.2 Waggy

3 - leave my chalet stock and maybe sell it.

4 -keep my perkins till I find a good candidate, later, it's not that big I can store it indefinitely, but I miss driving it.
I could also build a buggy for off road only, but that would come later once I have time to enjoy it when my kid grows up some more.

The perkins is setup for a SM465, so I need to convert the auto to manual, I have all the parts to do it but it's alot of work to get a running vehicle.

Let's hear some arguments, and if you need more info, ask.
The crew cab turned out to be a nightmare ($$$$) to register so it's going anyway.

Pics will come soon to help you see what I see.

My only bit of advice is about the 'Chalet' market - I still have yours on the 'currently for sale' list at the yahoo forum as #31, and the Google map (though unlisted in internet searches) is approaching 600 hits. Five have sold in the last 6 months that I know of, but with around 50 on the list it seems the market is somewhat saturated. From a lot of the sellers, I get the impression folks aren't breaking down the doors to buy these, although there are the unending supply of low-ballers who think they can turn them around for mega-bucks.

#1041 was a weird example, it is going to Concord CA but not before changing hands here in Phoenix through some speculator who was actually able to flip it right away by sheer dumb luck, while some other middleman attempted to market it in Sweden before the most recent owner bought it - I stumbled across its Oct '09 ad here only just this morning while rummaging deep into bing.com Chalet images... 62,500 Swedish Krona = about $8700+, though I don't believe the buyer even paid half that much from the guy who did own it.

I didn't feel it was going to sell anytime soon, just was thinking if I put a diesel in it, will it improve or hurt my selling it later?
I don't plan on owning it forever, I have the other shell that I will be building on something different and when that happens, I don't need 2 chalets.
If I do put a diesel in it I would use it.
Now it gets about 10MPG max, less when I push it out of state at 75 MPH, with the diesel I would get 20+ and with the 31 gas tank instead of the 25 in it now, I could justify a few trips a year in it.
I would put the 6.2 / 700R4 / 208, and maybe some bigger tires to get my diesel in it's sweet spot.
