I have a '77 that I'll be painting before too long. I think I'm going to go with Chevy Hugger Orange with a white top. What interior color(s) would look good with it? It's currently tan but my imagination isn't good enough to figure out what those would look like together. Black is out, too dang hot in the Texas sun. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I did a few searches on some of the hotrod sites I visit and found a couple of Camaros that were orange with dark green interior. I'm not a big Florida Gators fan, gotta pass on that.

White, I agree would be a good match, but you're right, screw keeping that clean!

Navy looks great with orange but if I'm going to do that, it'll be black.

The truck is beige now and might be for a little while, I'd kinda like for the interior to go with it until I get it painted - if that ever happens.

How about purple? It looks better with orange than any color I've seen and it's been my favorite color off and on for several years. Problem is I don't have any other ghetto stuff to put on it that would match.

I'm leaning toward dark brown/tan if I don't just bite the bullet and go with black. I guess I can learn to use a windshield sun blocker in the summer or always make sure I park it facing north :D

IMO, I think with a Hugger Orange exterior, you should paint the underside of the dash the same color, and the rest of the interior should be black, dashpad, seats, and doorpanels.

BigBlaze, I agree totally. All the sheetmetal on the truck will be orange, inside and out. The bed topper and interior upholstery will match. I'm really leaning toward Navy blue, it breaks the orange and black scheme just enough to be different but looks great together. I hope to end up in Colorado in the next couple of years and it'll be Broncos colors if I go this way.
On the other hand, black and orange will be easy to match the engine to the rest of the truck and I just can't see navy valve covers :eek1:
I'm so glad I'm a man and don't have to make these decisions like my girlfriend does every time she goes shopping for clothes.

Orange and White for the Vols fans out there (you know who you are:wink1:). Orange is my favorite color. If I was going to do mine it would be orange with a gunmetal grey. Very deep, dark, shiny grey.:eek1:

You can find orange and white vehicles of every variety up in my hometown of Knoxville, TN--right literally in the heart of Vol Country :wink1:

I like the idea of a white interior though. I think it looks neat. What would be so bad about the maintenance? Aren't we basically talking about just wiping it down...unless you're talking about using upholstery instead of vinyl seat covers. That *would* suck. Really any cloth-type stuff is gonna get dirty and stay that way. It'll just be harder to see if it's a darker color.

I say black or dark grey. My K5 is orange with a black soft top and most of the interior is black. My back seat, dashpad and seatbelts are the only blue things left. I am slowly replacing everything. I think it looked a little odd with the blue interior, it never grew on me.

It'd probably be tough to find but, what about the OEM orange/tan/black plaid seats? My budd used to have a parts Blazer with those seats and they looked pimp! If my Jimmy weren't sky blue, I'd woulda been tempted to grab those seats! If you can't recall the seats of which I'm speaking, look in the for sale thread at that one 78 that was for sale with the Cummins 4 cyl.

White would be the right color i'd go with. Next would be the gunmetal as previously mentioned then black lastly. I say Black last cause it'll look like a big pumpkin IMO :D

I havent ever seen a (naturally) black pumpkin. Tan would be more pumpkin like.

True but it'd just drive me nuts. I know it's not mine though. I painted a orange truck for a guy and he HAD to have black racing stripes. I still hate lookin at that truck. Being interior it wouldn't be too bad though.

Look at it like this. It might even make Peterson's October issue :D

I have 75 that is hugger orange and white. I ma going with Tan seats and trim with black carpet. I was looking at gray and black but I was thinking it was going to be to hot.

I have not finished the interior yet but I think it's shaping up.:wink1:

I would do black seats with orange inserts (keep the heat down). Black console, kick panels, dash pad, and door panels. Really cool would be the neoprene (?- you know- wet suit material)
black roll bar with orange padding to match the seats.

I was trying to figure out what material to use - cloth isn't slippery, but it ain't the easiest thing to clean. Vinyl is easy to clean but you could slide completely out of the seat.
Neoprene. Hmmmm. Easy to clean - waterproof - and a flannel shirt should stick to it like velcro.
Google, here I come!
Thanks for the idea - if it works out, I think it will be the ideal material.

I'm figuring on using some thick, tough vinyl for bolsters and just use the waterproof/cloth in the centers. What exactly is Sunbrella?

There are a couple of sites that sell primarily to Jeeps that offer seat covers in Neoprene. Check out J.C. Whitney also
