I have a 1996 K2500, ExCab, 8' bed, 5.7, 4.10, Auto. I use the truck to tow a trailer weighing 5K plus another 600-800 in the bed. Its a great ride going down the highway @ 75mph but as soon as I hit any grade it slows right down. I can probably prevent most of the lag if I let the tranny kick down but I try not to. My question is should I get into the throttle and alow the tranny to kick down? Also, what can I do to get a little more power so I don't have to let it kick down? Air induction, Exhaust, Chip, etc? What do you guys recomend?
