What is a good replacement motor for a 1988 blazer that will fit the same as stock and won't break the bank

GM performance replacement
or get yours rebuilt
Jasper Engines

Something from a Summit Racing or Jegs catalog possibly

Yep. Go on summitracing.com and look up gmperformance parts crate engines. There is one specifically for the tbi motors.

honestly if your hard parts block crank and heads are still good it would be cheaper to just buy a crank and rebuild kit and have your local machine shop do the nessesary work to freshen everything up and put it together for ya. new cam and valve train and whatnot would probably run you less and get more performance than a crate would for the same price. granted the crate route is less headaches sometimes but at least you get the best motor for your pricerange from the machine shop
