MY steering box is causing my Jimmy to pull to the right. All the allignment is good (had it checked) Jacked up the front end cranked it and the steering wheel slowly turns to the right. Any suggestions on what brand to get? Ive heard that Cardone that some parts stores sell get slop in them pretty quick, and then there is duralast from A-Zone. Both are around $150 with exchange. Then there are the supposed higher-end boxes, ARG and soforth. Just a highway vehicle needing a good box...:dunno:

If your just gonna buy a new one check with PSC (pscmotorsports.com) I have always been impressed with their service.

Why would you buy a new one  . Any retailer you go with is going to charge you out the ass compared to a used box you can get out of pick n pull or a scrapyard.

Whose to say a junkyard find wont have the same problem as what I've got now, I only want to change it once if I can help it.

I think most guys now are just rebuilding their old ones. There's a couple of members on here who rebuild them. You might could start a thread asking for someone to give advice or rebuild your box for you. I got a rebuilt one from O'Reilly last year and it had more slop in it than the one I traded in. PSC is the best. I think you can use a 2WD Chevy steering box from about '81-'87 too. Don't quote me on that one.

I think 4X4High is one guy who rebuilds them.

It's a waste of time pulling one from a junkyard and installing it on your vehicle and then finding out it's just as bad as the one you pulled off. A day of my time is worth more than that...better off buying a new one.

PSC can rebuild your original with upgraded parts...

Yea found out that PSC is just about 200 miles west of me outside of Ft Worth Tx. Heck, I go out there 5 nights a week on my job. Think I'll contact them.

Yeah, they are in Azle...I'm gonna take mine there soon for them to rebuild. They will rebuild it for about the same cost as the crap you get at any auto supply store.

I think those "rebuilt" ones from the parts stores just have new seals and a new shiny black paint job.
