Need opinions, any of these worth it?

Used Craigslist engines are Crap shoot.
Use common sense and go with your gut about the seller.
I would never pay over 5 bills for a big block.
Get it as cheap as you probably can. Leaves you more money for repairs if needed.

Look for obvious signs it's been opened up.
If it's been opened and the tins are put back, that could mean something is going on inside they didn't like.
Ask to see inside. See if the seller will let you take off the oil pan/ intake/ valve covers.

On those notes. I would take a chance on any one of those fat blocks listed....I wouldn't pay 750 for that one... But you catch my drift.

And let me state I would only take a chance on those because they all were factory efi engines. And technically they should be a little cleaner then a older generation.

Anybody ever try one of those cheap fiber optic cameras for engine shopping? You should be able to do a compression test on-site before buying.

1st one gen 4 with peanut port heads .

the rest all seem to be gen 5 and there only a short run and specific to them selfs for most parts .

if i had to buy one i would go the 1st gen 4 motor . or hold out for a gen 6 .

I wouldn't buy an engine off craigslist unless I heard it run and I was the one that pulled it while it was still warm. Or unless it was for a core to rebuild, and even then I'd be leery. I'd rather buy a core from a wrecking yard so I could take it back if there was something internally wrong.

Just run into too many con artists on CL to gamble, myself.

Edit: not to start a conversation around fraud on CL, but I went to pick up a 350 that was in "great shape", I think the guy wanted $300 or something. I get there, bent rod, and holed piston. "Well, the crank is really what is worth anything". If I'm going to drop hundreds of dollars on anything, it better be brand new from the manufacturer, something that can be tested to be in a condition as advertised, or that can be visually inspected to have no flaws that are going to render it worthless. I'm not willing to drop even $100 on something that "might" be good. I don't like gambling that much.

Sorry, was thinking the ad said 1989. Still, the concept of buying a whole truck remains. What are the requirements and what are the plans?

If you don't need a D60, you can sell it and recoup most/all the investment here: https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/6104446505.html. I'm not saying I know what to buy, just injecting ideas.

I think CL suffers as much from delusion or poor memory as from true fraud. Some are fairly honest people but just don't really know what they have. Lots of stuff gets pulled as "working" but wasn't really 100%, they just never knew the true status or bothered to figure it out.
