Getting ready to put newer seats in my GMC Jimmy. Bought some 2003 front seats. Looking for pictures of DIY brackets or whatever you used to mount the 2003 seat frames and bracket to the front. Looks like they may need to be shimmed up about 2"s?
I have 05 Silverado seats in my Blazer but I don’t have have any pics of the brackets. I used some 1x2 tubing layed flat so they are 1” tall, I just made a square and double drilled them with the seat and floor bolt patterns. I don’t like them so I’ll probably rework them soon, next time I’ve going to build angled brackets probably 2” tall in the front and 1” in the rear.
I used those seats, if I remember right the front inside bolt lines up with factory mount. I just went straight to the floor and put a backing plate down.
I've got those seats in my '91 K5 and used the same seats in my '75. When I originally put them in the '75 I used one side of existing holes, but it felt like the seat was not on the same centerline as the steering wheel. It wasn't much but it did drive my low level OCD a little crazy. When I went to put them in the '91 I started out using the stock holes at first. But I wanted to get the seat lined up with the steering wheel. So I ended up drilling 4 new holes. I did however, use 1/4" flat stock that also tied into the stock seat mount holes to help spread the load out along with chunks of 1/4" flat stock on the underside of the floor to sandwich the thinner sheet metal in between.
front side
Back side, the extra two holes went to the '75 for the stock rear bracket that allowed the seat to tilt forward. They aren't needed for the '91.
Thanks for the replies. This is what I've come up with so far. used 2" square tubing in for the front of the seat bracket and 1 1/2" tubing for the rear of the front seat bracket. Yellow are the factory bolt holes and red are extra bolts with backing plates. I like they way they sit but I might go with 1 1/2" tubing in the front instead of the 2"
