Need seats to mount in cage, suggestions? UPDATE with pics

Wow...cage snobbery? Not everyone wants or needs 200 feet of uber braced cage for their truck.

I grudgingly added the 'V' brace to my 'B' hoop as a compromise. I can't use a reclining seat anymore, but the kids can still access the rear by walking between the front seats. Being kids they still think that sort of thing is fun...so it's all good. I doubt I'd be able to convince an adult to do that though.

Sure maybe it is, but I dont see why you would give up safety to be able to recline your seats.
Then he says he wont have his belts mounted to it so what happens when this cage separates from the body?? Its going to cut him in half.

I guess I just look at things different.

The holier-than-thou stuff isn't always constructive, not even in safety issues :D . Not everyone is building a buggy.

the factory passanger seat doesn't recline (in my 85 anyway!) and I can still access the back. Design the cage mounts so the pass seat can be tilted forward... like the factory one.

As far as cage snobbery (good new-word useage!) some extra protection is better than none. No two people have the exact same needs or budget... some people can only afford or want a simple 4 point cage. Thats cool. Personally, I like the jungle gym look... :thumb: I dunno how much tube will go into my cage... but I do know that I have 300' to work with... and pretty much none of that will be needed for front/rear bumpers (narrowed, not much left).

Where did I say I was going to leave the stock seat belts attached to the body? In fact, they will be attached to the cage. And where did I say there would be no cross bracing? I simply said I didn't want a bar right behind the seats so that I could recline the seats.

On topic I have a set of '86 Celica GT seats bolted to my cage. They recline, but can't due to the bracing of the 'b' hoop. They do slide and tilt forward though. I have gotten to the rear by sliding and tilting forward the seat, but it's tight to get between the bars that way...:doah:

You could mount the cross bar on the B hoop lower so that the seat can still recline, still support the sides, and access of rear.

My 83 pass. seat does not recline, well, neigther does the drivers now to think about it. But the drivers is solid mounted to the floor with front to back movement. The passenger seat tilts forward, its aint the most room to access the back, but enough to squeeze yourself or whoever through to the back. There is a hook on the rear of the seat that attaches to a bar in the floor holding it down. This could easily be made for a cage seat .

I have kids, need access to the back seat, and drive long distances sometimes to wheel. The passenger especially doesn't want to sit bolt upright for hours and hours at a time..... Otherwise I'd do a seat with a harness and run a tube across the back of the seats for the harness.

I have 3 kids that ride in the back. My new seats (PRP's) don't recline and my kids will have to climb over the jungle gym to get in the back. I am going to set the angle of the seats to feel comfortable and the sliders go 7" so splitting driver duties with the wife will work out ok.

Rene, Donna would climb through. I'm doing a cross bar in mine to mount my harnesses. Should be fun to get in and out of the back when it is done. I should start bending next week so I will toss up some pics when it's done. I am hoping to have it all cut and bent in 2 days. I set the bender up at a friends garage since I don't have enough room at my place. If I get it done and tacked together at his place then I can bring it home and do all the finish welds.

You know, the more I look at these, then compare them to the Bride website, they sure aren't a Bride seat. A knock-off, but not a Bride. Then I compare them to an APC seat. They are similar, but slightly different. I found a forum where a guy claims that APC sent him an e-mail saying that the same factory in China makes them for APC and a whole bunch of other companies. There is no logo on them. I'll have to look more closely at the box and see if I can figure anything out. Anybody know anything more on these seats?
