Hello - I have a hybrid of an 83 and 87 K5 that I'm building. It's being built as a go-fast prerunner, for which I'm using cut, turned, and extended Twin Traction Beams - don't flame me, I've gotten enough of it to-date on this board. I didn't take great notes prior to cutting the entire front end off of my truck... below is a pic of how it sits today, as you can see it's becoming a stockpile. frame rails were too narrow and were cut off under the cab, we fabbed new ones as shown in the pic, but the match the rake of a bronco frame and do not provide an dimensional reference. I'm getting ready to fab my crossmember and get the drivetrain mocked up, but need a couple of dimensions first:

-I need the dimension of the centerline of the crank or the block deck from some reference point on the firewall (ideally the crown on the firewall in the center, or the centerline of the top mounting studs for the Master cylinder/booster assembly.

-What would also be helpful is the angle of motor, taken off the the carb flange or deck surface (assuming the vehicle is on level ground) - would also need to know if T-case Xmember spacers are being used or not.

-Lastly, I need a dimension from a fixed point on the vehicle - preferably the centerline of the crank to the centerline of the front wheels or axle tube. Will also need to know the amount of lift if any. This would be ideal off of a stock ride/non-lifted.

Basically I'm trying to identify motor mount height in relationship to the cab, and ride height in relationship to the cab or motor... If anybody is able to help out with all or a portion of this I would be very grateful!!

I don't have any useful information, but how come you haven't been updating your build thread? I thought maybe you gave up on the project? I am not here to flame, I don't understand what you are doing at all, but I am still interested.

I agree, update the thread. Some interesting stuff going on.

I wish I'd made more progress... I have a 2.5 year old and a new baby and they're consuming a lot of my free time. I'm gearing up to get back to work on it... I've been designing new parts which I'll post some pics of shortly.

Does anybody know there are CAD files for our trucks, or even the old GM blueprints anywhere to reference? It sure would be helpful!

Oh and the springs are a 64" pack of deavers - my friend is using them on his bronco - I think the rear end cycles a clean 21" with them. I keep going back and forth between using the same springs, or a 4-link setup with a cantilever or mezzanine arm. Right now I'm planning on links with the Mez arms.
