i know this doesn't belong here. never had a car like this. mom had one when i was really little. she wanted another one for years. found one 30min from my house.. wants 1500. says it has very little rust. needs a brake line and fuel tank.

any thing i should look out for? thanks

Rust, rust , rust, and some more rust, you do live in NJ

I dont know of any problems that they had or were prone to have. 2 door or 4 door ?

My 74 wheeled rather well took out to Deptford somewhere got it twisted up so bad the windshield cracked :D bought it for $100 sold it for $70 after I beat the crap out of it.

A 2dr would be a cool car about the same size as a 4dr so its going to be a boat. Gas tank might be expensive to replace I would think LMC or somebody has a replacement. You could always put a fuel cell in the trunk not like you would ever notice that it was there. :woot:

the trunk seals leak and water gets into lower rear quarters.

Its a chevy so it has been on the road for most of its life so the bumpers may be tweaked...no biggie, dent and dings...ect.

i guess typical 40 year old stuff, rust, front end,

The frames will rust from the inside out around the trans crossmembers and by the back body mounts.

lower fenders under trim may rust.

I have a 65 and its a little rusty

yes i do. i have one dodge left and a few ctd motors thats it. rest was scraped. hope this turns out good. want it for my mom

hope it goes well. few years back the one i found looked like it went to war. been looking really cant seem to find any parts either.:dunno:

he sent 2 pics. to me. not looking to good. i can get a 64 for wayyy more money. might end up doing that.

not worth 1500.looks like a good parts car!i paid 4000 for my 69 caprice and it was mint.little old man that bought it new.....you know, the kind of car that you hear about and never expect to find.if you do end up with this mess thou, my local junkyard has 7 69-70 imps and caprices for parts.the guy has a sweet spot for classics and stockpiles them.

the more i think about it. the 64 is looking better and better. i can drive it away

I like these cars, I almost bought a 69 Bel air black on black with a 327 and a 3 speed one time, I still could, but its a little too rusty to be worth fixing. Been in a junkyard for a few decades.

Oh its missing the trunklid too, and someone told me the trunklid for that year is specific to the bel air, and is incredibly rare.

There was a 50k mile black 1970 impala that sold at a small farm sale a while back, 4 door, imaculate paint and body, perfect tan interior with plastic still on the seat, didnt bring but 3000 or so, and it was niccee, almost bought it for mom but it was a boat, ended up getting her a 30k mile 84 monte carlo instead. I personally dont like the 68-72s as much, same as the later years, id rock one if it was cheap and ran, but i prefer the 66s nyself.

didnt even get to see this car yet. said i could have it for 950. thats never happen before
