its pretty clean looking... its a v6.. a old friend had one.. has performance lowering suspension for it and a 383.. was going to buy it from him.. any thoughts? anything i should look for? car ran when it was parked 4 years ago.. said it started with a jump about a year ago... as always thanks for the help :waytogo:

really and i was going for a a 383.. i can get other rears for cheap.... 700r4s are everywhere..

Engines sitting over time can rust the cylinder walls - usually two cylinders. If it is in a high moisture environment like a field expect pitted cam and cyl walls within a year or two. A rebuild almost certainly be needed after 4 years.

If in a dry garage not so much. Could be anywhere in between. Sitting 4 yrs, may have to change gaskets.

I would not pay as much for a car that has sat years as for one that has been used.

YMMV

82-2002 F bodies have a torque arm thats mount is cast into the pumpkin. No other factory rear will work in it and it cant be fabricated on because of space constraints.

Its $2000 moser or stock.

Good call on the pass

There are several people who have fab'd 9"s into these cars. Currie even offers one. The torque arm mount bolts to the third member. Head over to thirdgen.org or ls1tech...cars being parted out with 12bolts and 9's. Or you could hold out for the rare 3rd gen Dana44.

Yep, pretty common to see swaps into them over there at thirdgen.org. Biggest thing with a V6 is the trans swap to accomodate the V8, move the motor mounts, relocate the fuel line, and a few other things that need to be done.

If/when I get to that point on the Camaro, Moser is going in with discs.

Like I said it takes a moser or currie style aftermarket rear. My point being you cant bolt and 8.5 ten bolt, 12 bolt, ford 9, or any other axle into it. Its not just mounts. The 9in center section is still aftermarket too.
