i AM REPLACING THE HEAD GASKETS ON MY 83 BLAZER (350TBI FROM A 92 PICK UP) AND WAS WONDERING ARE THERE ANY GOOD AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT HEADS AT REASONABLE PRICES. WAS THINKING OF MAYBE INVESTING THE MONEY THAT IT TAKES TO GET THE HEADS CHECKED AND CLEANED INTO A NEW SET.

Steve's Colorado garage sale unde regional had some heads for sale. I'm not sure if that's what you want but he shipped the stuff I wanted with out problems.

Not a complete bolt in, the intake manifold won't work. You need either an aftermarket (or the extremely rare GM piece) Vortec TBI intake, or adapt a carbureted Vortec intake manifold to the TBI, which is probably the least expensive fix.

summit racing and cfmtech both sell square bore adapters for tbi right around $50 if i remember.
if needed i can post pictures of my tbi adapter to bb square bore.

**** I need some heads as well.

Im looking to get some vortec heads.
I had a set a few weeks ago but they were both cracked, traded them for a set of TBI heads, cracked. SO Im just going to buy some from summit/jegs

Not sure what Summit/Jegs sell, but EQ makes "better" Vortec castings for fairly reasonable from ads I've seen.

According to my local engine builder, EQ heads hold all the records right now for stock iron castings, and are something like $280 apiece bare--that is CDN dollars. He also said they're hard to get right now because the foundry is down, or behind, or something.

How's that for a bunch of vague information? :D

Well that whole EQ situation sounds weird anyways...if I'm not mistaken, they've changed names or merged in the last few years, and the product lineup has changed a BUNCH.

$280/each bare isn't bad I suspect, if you put them against the price of any other NEW head. For awhile you could get a pair, complete, for $500. That was a screaming deal in my book.
