Hey y'all, we're having a bit of a time of it fitting my doubler in (465/short adapter/203/2" upclocked 205/HAD driveline e-brake/triple sticks). Although I acknowledge a body lift would make this easier, I have no desire to run a body lift, just want to cut/weld to fit. I was wondering if anyone has a similar setup and has some pics of what mods they had to do to their floorboards and tunnel to fit 'em? Thus far we have: cut the tunnel where it dips down toward the back to clear the e-brake, and cut right up to the passenger seat mount to clear the 205. Anybody have a good shot of what needs be done to accomodate the shifters? Any tips/advice?

Also, if anybody has pics of custom crossmembers they made to fit their doubler, that'd be really helpful too! I'm thinking a good bit of tube bent up and mounted in such a way to allow the greatest clearance it can with a large belly pan that is bent up on the edges to facilitate sliding, suggestions, pics, ideas?

Thanks everybody!:waytogo:

There's a thread in the 1st Gen forum (the thread with 30,000+ views) that shows a doubler installed flat and the associated floor mods.

Also, I'm almost positive Rene (tRusty) had some good pics of his floor mods and crossmembers... may have to search that one a little in this forum.

I'm doing a clocked-flat driveline setup in the next couple weeks, but I'm not quite there yet... you'll probably be finished by the time I get pics posted.

Good Luck.

Thanks bro! Good look with your install as well!
Anybody else got some setups to look at too? Thanks! :D

Here is a good end p[rofile of the crossmember. You can see it's not flat, but very close to it...

That's about where I stopped. I have yet to rebuild the tunnel and stuff. Oh yeah, I run a 1" body lift and my 205 is clocked up 3". This should give you an idea of the clocking...

:hijack: Rene, does your 205 hang below the framerails at all? How long is your transmission (nv4500?) Also what type of front driveshaft do you have? :end hijack:

My 205 is maybe 1/2" lower than the frame rails if my memory serves (truck isn't here and I haven't looked in a while)

The NV4500 is about 3 1/2" longer than the 465, plus the length of the 203 range box and doubler adaptor. Total length of the drivetrain is 48" from the face of the bell to the center of the U-joint cups on the 205 output.

My front shaft is a 1410/1410 long slip shaft from South Bay driveline. It's .120" wall and has about 20" of slip. At rest there is about 8" of spline showing. Sorry, it's one of the things I don't have pic's of. :doah: Overall length at rest is about 39" though, and the angle is quite good. I was really hoping for equal length driveshafts but that didn't quite work out. I was also hoping to run 1410/1410 shafts front and rear...which also didn't quite work out. The rear shaft is shorter than I'd hoped, and runs steeper than I'd hoped. It's currently 1410/1410, but the pinion has been rotated in preparation for adding a high angle CV head and companion flange. I have the parts, just need to take some measurements and send it in to be modified.

Hope that helps...

Rene

This pic actually shows belly clearance and front driveline angle...

tRustyK5, thanks for posting pics bro! Now hurry up and finish the tunnel so I can see that set up! ;):D Looks good, I'm jealous of your NV4500, sweet! I like that crossmember ya came up with, I've been racking my brain trying to think of a design, I think I may do something very similar, thanks! :waytogo:

Thanks for the info, rene. Do you happen to know the length difference between the nv4500 and a th350? I will be running a th350/203/205 setup in my rig. I was planning on rotating the 205 4"s up and mounting the 203 upside down with an overhead crossmember

Mine's an ORD Doubler clocked up 2"... I used stock crossmembers and only had to do a little sheetmetal cutting, though I had to really futz with the tunnel cover.

See my build thread for details...

Another local guy (with a 700R4; my truck has a TH350) had to do more work:

Thanks man! I like how your tunnel turned out! I may have to figure out a way to convert to a removable tunnel.
Hmm, the ohther guy's tunnel turned out very nicely too! Thanks for the links, good stuff!

Anybody recall the thread names of the links? I clicked on them but they dont work. Im looking for a little inspiration on rebuilding my tunnel and floor from my doubler install. Thanks

Right on awsome tunnell, thanks. I have way more cutout but that was some good inspiration. Whole build look like a ton of fun.
