My dad has a 95 F-250 powerstroke. When driving the truck it will seem as if it shuts down to only a few cylinders and then suddenly kick back in and run fine again. During this the check engine light will come on. We talked to a shop and they suggested that the cam sensor might be bad but they didnt know because they dont work on diesels. Does this thing have a cam sensor? What could this be? I know this is a chevy forum but i figured you guys might know or could atleast direct me to someplace to go.

thanks

Dustin

Had a buddy who had a 95 diesel ford, same kind of thing happened. He was getting poor performance and all of a sudden it died. While my rig was on his trailer. It ended up being the computer. He pulled a used one from a scrap yard for 40 bucks and it has been running fine since.

I don't know, but that might be the prob, keep in mind though, it is a ford... :p:

I hope thats not the problem but it may be something to check in to.

Thanks for your reply.

Anyboy else got any ideas?

Go to www.thedieselstop.com , they can answer your questions. I have a truck with similar symptoms, and will be tearing into it soon. Could be an injector, the wiring harness, the Injector Driver Module, or something else.
Good luck.

Quick, easy, first step - pull the harness connectors @ the valve cover gaskets and clean and re-install them. this is a fairly coomon, rattlesmoke-I mean powerjoke-I mean powerstroke problem :haha: P.S. yes on the cam sensor-whole thing runs off of it
