The 80 chevy has a 350/ sm420 and I believe it to be a 205, but I did not think that would be in a 1/2 ton? It has been sitting for a long time, but it started right up and the truck seams fine. It is VERY rusted. ( Sazzall = bigger tiers) He want 400 for it so I am thinking about getting it. I am just wondering on the 205 in a 1/2 ton. The k5 is fully loaded and the body is in nice shape. It has 140,000 on it and the trucks I have now are diesel so I don't know a thing about gas motor. Never had one before. I am looking for a shackle flip. I know ORD has one, but I don't want to drop the tank if I can get around it. Who else makes them?? Any help with all of this would be very appreciated. Sorry for making it so long. Thanks a lot Mike

for the shackle flip, go to echobit.com
just installed this. its very easy and they are very good to deal with. it gave me about 5.5" of lift. but my springs are in good shape /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif

205s came behind the 4 speeds all the time. In fact, in 80, it is very rare to have any t-case other than a 205, regardless of the tranny. Good find. BTW, the tranny should be a 465, if it is a 420 it was swapped from a MUCH older truck.

Not trying to bust yer sack, but the 203 came behind the 465 in 74. For the application he's got, yea, it's a 205, unless it IS a 420 from an older truck, then it could be up in the air.

Safe bet, 465/205.

That was meant as in "205s behind 465s were not exactly rare", i.e., they are found behind them all the time. Get it? The fact that the 203 was behind the 465 in '74 was exactly applicable, since he already said he thinks it's a 205, and it's an 80 so that would make sense. My sack is still intact, thank you.

fair enough. But what if it IS a 420.... /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

As soon as I started typing my response last night it sounded like I was being a dick, just submitted it before I REALLY noticed it.

Than it would not have come w/ a 205 attached. It would have come w/ a yoke output and if was from a 4WD it would have used a divorced case, a T-221 or maybe an NP205

It is a 465. I think it is going to be my beater. I looked at the k5 and when I got there it was warm. It was running before I got there any ideas what I should look for? I think he is trying to something. Thanks for the help guys!! mike
