that is a heater flow control valve. when the control in dash is not on heat it turns off the flow to the heater core.

you need a new one.

if you cant find one. plug off the vac line to the unit and install 2 new hoses stright to the heater core or 2 hose couplers.

ya, my moms 98 burb did the samething...i got a new one at my local chevy dealership...i think it was around $30? im not sure though. and it took about 10 mins to replace too.

dont know what you mean by "mexican version"...i didnt know there was a difference?

In the U.S. there is no 97 full size blazer, just the wimpy s-10 blazer. Its called the Tahoe in the U.S. that is probably why he said "mexican" version.

Thats exactly it, a full size blazer, 2 door.

DO i need to drain the engine of antifreeze or can i just change the valve without making a mess

You don't need to drain the antifreeze out of the engine. No matter what you do, you will still make a little mess.

ya,i didnt drain it, i just pulled the hoses off of it, and got a bucket and drained as much as it would then started putting the new one on

Wrong. Chevy made the 2 door Tahoe K1500 until 1999. GMC made the 2 door Yukon K1500 until 1997. Both were available in the US market from any US dealer just like anything else.

I agree, and they were called yukon and tahoe, Not blazer. I had a 96 2door w/ barn doors and leather seats.

Both WRONG..ITS A BLAZER made and sold in Mexico, full size, 2 door

Actual Blazer...got pics? Just like to see it. What do the decals and name plates look like?

How'd he register it there? When I lived in San Diego I saw plenty of Chevy LUV's and 2 door 94+ Dodge Ram Chargers but never any with American plates on them. Even the new/old VW Bugs. Thing was the word was you couldn't register them here in the States because they didn't meet our smog/crash standards.

my tahoe was made in mexico and badged as a Tahoe for the U.S. I know the mexican versions are called blazers. That is what i was trying to get at. Hijack: off
