I have been offered a complete power window for the tailgate, but it is out of a Sub not a Blazer. Will these two interchange? If not, will the glass still work even though the regulator will not?

The only reason I ask is the Burb is going to be derbied next weekend, and I want to steal any useful parts that I can before they get destroyed. In this case it is a 1980 Burb, the same year as my Blazer.

According to a few places, the regulators are different in the Burb versus the Blazer. Not sure what the difference is, but I want to use the whole electric setup.

That particular line is that my glass is heavily scratched from not having weatherstrip on the inside edge, and I want to at least use the glass in my Blazer.

hmm, guess i can't really help you. i have never dealt with a blazer.

for what it is worth, i looked in the LMC truck catalogs, they list different part numbers for tailgates between blazers and suburbans.

Yeah, that is what I am most worried about. They also show a different part number for the glass, but I just can't see GM doing so many different parts on vehicles that share so many parts.

Guess I could always pull it and see, but it looks like it may be because the Sub motor is mounted to the regulator, and the Blazer uses a cable to drive the regulator.

Someone here must have tried it and can give me some advice.

Wow all day and no one here has tried this?

Well let me answer it then:

1. Burbs window opening is 1/2" smaller than Blazer
2. Burb tailgate is straight at the top, where the Blazer is contoured to match the body lines
3. Burb uses direct drive motor mounted to regulator and it sits in the aforementioned straight portion of the tailgate.

Basically there isn't room in the Blazer for the motor mounting, and the window may not work because of the size and the alignment of the channels that the rollers work in.

Anyone actually tried it that can tell me anything more about it?

Actually the handles on the outside and a few internal parts are interchangable, but the majority are different.

On the plus side I now have a complete Burb power windows setup that I can list in the classifieds.
