hey gang. I need some measurements of a stock 2nd gen K5. Here is what I need, within an inch or so...

1) overall width (not including mirrors) of the body, where ever its widest.

2) rocker panel height from the ground

3) height to the top of the roof.

4) height to the place on the seat where your butt goes.

can anyone help me out?

if i could find my misplaced measuring tapes id help. sorry

its what happens when the roommate's girlfriend cleans the whole house.

I'll take a couple measurements today -- Can't measure the seat height though, my K5 has no seats, lol :D

thanks for the help guys. One more measurement....

5) height to the floor (where the seats mount) from the ground.

even without a seat you can get this one SC. :thumb:

I've gotta work on my truck late (:()tonight, probably can't get widest point by myself, but the others I can handle if you still need it by then.

You say stock truck. Stock with 235/75R15's, stock with 31's, base or HD suspension, weight, etc?

I know it sounds like I'm being nit picky, but if you need within an inch, all of those are going to screw the overall height up. I suspect a 5700lb heavily optioned base suspension truck on 235's is going to be considerably less tall than a bare bones truck @ 5000lbs that came on 31's. For whatever you are considering, is any of that important?

Mines HD suspension, 5000lbs, on 33's, but the tire issue is an easy one to solve. All stock parts except the tires and an add-a-leaf that brought the sagging rear level, so it's going to be "true". About 7/8 of a 31 gallon tank of gas as well.

stock with 31s. I know there are other factors that can determine various things... but its all good. If I get a couple of different sets of numbers, I can average them. :)

235's are what, 29" theoretically?

Still easy to calc whatever measurements he needs from the tire size, if precision isn't THAT important or he's going to average.

Ok, here we go:

1) Overall width from bodyline to body line is approx 80", plus or minus 2 - 3" cause its tough to see where the other side of the tape is :D

2) Height from the ground to the bottom of the rockers is 18", plus or minus an inch

3) Height from the ground to the floor pan is 23" plus or minus an inch

4) Height from the ground to the roof is about 6'1" plus or minus an inch.

noted! thanks much mang. Can anyone else grab some real quick? I think I will average things and add/subtract height based on tire height if need be. If you're gonna post up some numbers, just don't forget to mention what tires ya have...

Ah, right, that is a 85 K5 with stock 235s. Had a diesel from the factory, still has the HD suspension with the 305 it has now though.

Looks like it will be tomorrow night before I get a chance to work on it, if thats ok?

no worries at all dude... take all the time ya need! :)

1) overall width (not including mirrors) of the body, where ever its widest.

I got 79.25" measuring from the rear wheel well "flare", or 80.25" body line to body line. I'm more comfortable with the first number though, I was able to get a straight piece of wood completely underneath right at that level, so that measurement should be real close. Maybe 3/4-1" narrower if you remove the wheel well trim. As with Sierraclassic, hard to know how close I was on the BL to BL measurement.

2) rocker panel height from the ground

19.75"

3) height to the top of the roof.

76"

4) height to the place on the seat where your butt goes.

36.25" High Back buckets.

5) height to the floor (where the seats mount) from the ground.

24.75" This measurement is kind of subjective. The seat bolts/mounts actually are "bulged" inside the cab. From underneath, they are probably about 1/2" higher than the floor pan, which is what the 24.75" measurement is. But it was taken right at the edge of the bulge.

awesome mang, thanks much. anyone else wanna hook a brotha up??
