OK....So I have a 74 right now. If you search under my name you can see it...
Anyways...It's been sitting for about a year, and wasn't in that great of shape when it started to sit, so now...It's pretty jacked.
Found an 84 on Craigslist. Guy wants 900.00, but it has been on there for a month and he has dropped the price, bet I could get it for 700.
So now for the delema. Should I buy the 84 and put all my parts on it? Or should I suck it up and fix my 74? We are talking lots of work. Needs new floor and pretty much everything above and below to make her trail worthy again. Any advise?

post pics of the 84 along with the 74 so we can see the comparison

is the 84 stock? whats your plans for the rig?

all depends on what your running with. i see you have 350/350/203 the 84 would be probably 350 or 305/700r4 or sm465/ 208

milage? body condition?

Go with the 84 and keep the 74. Might want to make that 84 into a full convert :wink1:

Seriously, I was stoked when I bought my first K5. People here talked some sense into me and I found another good deal on a newer model in better shape and am glad I did. I don't know how things are around where you live, but here they are crushing vehicles that are more than 10 years old because they say there isn't enough demand for them. Something over 30 years old? Forget about it. I ended up buying a 78 that was in much better shape and has more creature comforts and a hell of a lot less body cancer.

I am not saying that the older rigs aren't as good, just that you have to have the time, patience and funds to get them back into shape. And I am talking a LOT of funds. :( Keep them both and save that 74 from being crushed but go for the 84 too. You can never have too many "classics" lying around IMHO.

Yea...That's the biggest concern. It would break my heart to see the 74 get crushed. Alot. However, the 74 was a california truck and has ALOT of rust. Primarily the floor. And having it a full convert, cancer there makes for a flexed oout BAD body.
The 84 is in good shape. Has a crate 350 with 30k on it, TH350 (missing third gear) and a 208. Even has a HEATER and RADIO!!! 2 lare improvements on the 74.

The thought of undoing all the crap on the 74 to put into a newer blaz is a little over whelming to think of right now. But I suppose doing it the second time would be easier than doing it the first time, seeing how we all learn form our mistakes.......

What he said without me being that close.

I'm gonna go drive it a little tomorrow.
Talked to the kid-
I'm kinda thinking he has no idea cause I asked him about the tranny issues and he said he put a rebuilt tranny in it like 3 months ago, it shifts into 1st and second no prob, but makes a "strange noise" and has trouble shifting into third until 3000 rpm. Maybe a crap valve body? any ideas?
