This is my first post, but I have an 84' K5 Im getting going for my son's first ride. The wire coming off the temp sending unit on the driver side of the block is cut. Maybe rats, or old high school ex. Who knows. I am having much trouble finding the other part of the wire. When running the gauge rattles all around like its grounding on something. Can someone shoot me a pick of their wire and the path to the firewall from the block so I can maybe locate mine??

dark green single wire with a plastic coated cover over a flat spade female connector .

welcome to the site :waytogo:

Ok, I found that one. If I touch it to a ground, it should move the gauge correct?

Well, so much for easy. Gauge jumps around when going down road, but not when grounded. Guess I have to pull instrument panel. Thanks for the help fellas

I was wrong. I had it hooked up to the wrong wire. It was a green wire dangling with a female end but it went to a double connector behind air breather. A local C10 owner said his ran back behind the motor. I think I’m just going to go to someone’s house and look at theirs to figure out where some of these wires go.

This is my 77. The temp sensors grounds out the gauge so it is possible there is a frayed spot in the wire making infrequent contact as yours is driven.

Got it!! Black wire with green core coming from little bundle on back of block. It was burned into about 1/4 of the way out. Now I just need to figure out what the two green wires coming from the double connector behind the air filter are for

An '84 might have had an idle stop solenoid and or an idle speed solenoid (kicks up the idle speed when the A/C pump comes on),those wires are usually green..
