I have been "window shopping" for new tires for the past week or so. I have narrowed it down to Swampers, two to be exact. the Irock and the trxus mt. I'm wondering if those who have run these tires have any advice about these tires?
They will mainly be used on the streets (sadly):( and the occasional trip up the mountains to play in the snow, along with the snow we get on the roads around here in the winter...which isn't much, just a 3-4 inches give or take.
I went to Interco's web site and they say that both the irock and the mt have excellent traction in the snow...what do those who have used them say?
The irocks are about 40 bucks more than the trxus mt, do you think its worth the extra 40 bucks?

I had a set of TRXus MT and they were OK off road, Excellent in snow, great on road, great aired way down in deep snow, round and balenced nicely. Hard to beleive they were swampers...

Neither of those are going to be spectacular for street use, but of the two the TRXUS MT would be better.

Why not an All Terrain tire? Pretty much every major offroad tire manufacturer offers an AT tire in 37's. I mostly street drive as well, so when it came time to replace my MT's I chose a set of 37x13.5x15 Dick Cepek FC-II's. I don't regret the choice one bit. They are much nicer on road, they seem to be wearing well, and they still do an admirable job off-road.

...Why not an All Terrain tire? ...

I have thought about that route also, i looked at the super swamper vortrac... but i'm really not sure..it is the least expensive, but my bald tsl swampers did better in the snow last year than my roomates brand new all terrains...so i'm a little hesitant

I run IROKs and would not recommend them for a lot of street driving. Mine have gotten some pretty significant wear just driving to trails and around town a little. I was considering the trxus for one of my other trucks that sees more street miles, but haven't purchased yet.

the new bfg is a sexy beast, I love the look and size of my 41 inch iroks, i beat the hell out of tires and like to slide around corners when im in a goof off mood, but the irok compared to the bfg feel cheep in price..

i cant say I would waste a toyo or bfg this way though

I would recommend Buckshot Radial Mudders. They wear really well on the street and do great on the trails and snow.

Buy the new BFG Mud Terrains, they're outstanding.

Interco tires (Super Swamper, if you will) are great offroad, they are terrible on the road. They are a very poor choice for you IMO.

I'm aware that Interco offers the TrXus all terrain and they supposedly have an ok reputation.

I would buy the new BFG mud terrains no question and for the record I run IROKS on my buggy.

I had the TrXus MT's on my '96 Ranger in 255/85R16 size. That's sorta a 33x10ishR16.
FLAT OUT LOVED THEM. Had two bent rims that made me think they were hard to balance at first but after Discount Tire pulled their heads out of their asses (no wait, I had to do it for them) we got that all fixed and they rode great. We get TONS of snow, ice, slush, etc etc etc up here in the winter and they were excellent through two Michigan winters and were wearing great with over 15,000 miles on them. If they made them in a taller/narrower tire I'd consider them for Big Ugly.

Although I do not recommend the IROK's in your application, I just wanted to state that the Radial IROK's do 100x better on the street as far as wear goes then the Bias IROK's. The Radial IROK's are respectable off road IMO. Go for the TRXus MT's

Thanks for all of the advice! I think I will go for the trxus mt's. I looked at the new bfg mud terrain, and i like it as well but i can get the trxus for less. I am kinda partial to super swampers anyways. the TSLs that i have on my blazer now have a little over 63,000 miles on them and have served me well on the streets, snow, rocks, mud. I was actually suprised to get that many miles out of them, they just recently wore down to the wear bars. :wink1:. I would get another set of them but i can't find them anywhere. They are 37x12.50x17 radial tsl, and even Interco's website no longer list a radial tsl for that size....heck they don't even have that size in the bias or "orginal" tsl anymore.....figures ya find something you like and they go and get rid of it...
