Looking for oponions on what to run. I am tossed between 38.5 x14.5 or 38x12.5 Super Swamper SX's. Which would be better for rockcrawling, the wider or narrower tire?

My buddy ended up with a set of each of those tires. The idea was the to run the narrow tires for mud racing and the wider ones for snow and sand. We mounted all of them on 10 inch wide rims and found out that the actual tread was only 1/2 difference. Go with the wider tire. It will help stability and the slighlty larger footprint will help traction.

I am running 38x16x16.5's on my truck and they suck if you are trying to get the most flex out of your truck. After hitting Stag Mtn. this past weekend I am getting some 12.5's or 13's.

oh yeah...my rear tires rub the INNER fender wells on my truck. The front fender wells are coming out, they got banged up this weekend also.

I say go for those boggers I posted on the NJK5 site.

I just bought 38x12.5 TSLs for my rig...but they were used at a good price. There's some good pics of the 2 side by side in this pic on por. Hope to help,

Bryan

I don't really want Boggers for street use. I have to admit Boggers look /forums/images/icons/cool.gif.

That link to the pics was a big help. The 12.50 is a tad shorter then the 14.50 but the 12.50 might be better for what I plan to do. I have a little while to figure which will be the best choise.

I would think the wide ones better for rocks. I do mud and I personally prefer narrower tires but other guys like the wide ones there too.

Narrow tires are so much cheaper though.

I prefer the wide. There is a truck around town with the wide 38 SX's and they really dont look wide at all next to my tires. Buy the wide ones.
