hey all, im starting to shop around for a trailer and try and figure out what my total weight of trailer, truck, parts, fuel and all that jazz. i cant get my truck to a scale anytime soon so im hoping someone with a similar build can tell me what they weigh in at... aright, here goes.. its a 90 chev blazer, 350,700r4, np241. 60f &drw hubs, 14 bolt w/ discs & wheel spacers, H1's, 38.5x16x16.5 TSL's, front bumper w/ 12k warn, rear DIY4x ud1 w/ swing away tire carrier, 1/4" HSS rock sliders, 8" spring lift, shackle flips, zero rates, dual optimas, glass top, stock heavy ass rear gate..... im guessing 6000lbs give or take. probly give though. id like to ditch the topper and rear tailgate, and switch to tube doors to save some weight, i already stripped the carpet and liner, and rhino lined it. argh, the more i look at it the heavier it gets.....

anyone got a decent guess at what im sitting at?

I'd agree on the 6000lbs, sounds about right. I'd also figure about 3000lbs for a trailer that'll haul that much K5, so about 9000lbs total, or so. I was looking at 9990lb GVWR trailers (they are really 10K rated (two 5K rated axles) but, they put 'em rated at 9990lbs for licensing purposes, IIRC 10K and above requires different driver's license class).

6000 lbs. is probably a good guess.

A 10-12K trailer is probably a little over 2000 lbs. by itself (my 12K trailer is 2200 lbs.)

'99 2500 Dodge Cummins is almost 7000.

My entire setup (with me, my brother, the buggy and all our gear) is just over 14,000.

In Colorado you don't need a CDL until 26,000 lbs.

this is the trailer i am looking at,

in either 12k (3,850lbs) or 14k (3,890lbs) depending on what i figure out my final at. deck over is basically a must because of my width, its a hydraulic tilt deck, winch plate mount, ive checked 'em out at a dealership and they are solidly built. the only thing im going to mount on the trailer besides the blazer is going to be a greenlee work box and maybe a few jerry cans.

so i figure 3,890lbs + 6000lbs+ 1000misc lbs =11,000lbs

im thinking the 14k model would be a good choice, and im almost 100% that i dont need a different license but thanks for the heads up...

My 89 blazer with almost identical specs with the exception of the wheels and mine weighed in at 5,880 lbs. with a full tank of gas. I have since built a rear tube bumber with tire carrier which weighs approximately 200 lbs. so your 6,000 lbs. is VERY close.

i was going to say 6000 lbs also.mine has a lot less than that and it weighed in at 4600 without atop.add in all the goodies and 6000 is a really reasonable figure.no license in any state has to be changed unless you are combined weight of 26001 or have air brakes.you would then need a class b license.
