Need to clear a 9/16 nut which drill bit size?

Hey all I have widen the spring plate for my blazer. I drilled it out already witha 9/1 bit but it wont clear a 9/16 nut used for the spring pin. I doont want to go to wide and get it sloppy. so which size would work best?

The spring plate doesn't matter what size hole as long as the nut doesn't interefer with it. The centering is being done on the axle side.

oh cool, I didnt know that I would have been worried if I made it to big plop there goes the axle LOL

thanks cyberfire and 4x4high. Got a 21/32 and it now fits perfectly over the nut
