I'm interested in buying this from a guy. This is the only photo he has for now.

Looking to see if somebody could possibly tell me from the photo (adapter) if this is a 10 spline or 32 spline setup.

Thank you! I understand 32 spline would be ideal, but how do the 10 splines hold up to a beating?

Can the output shaft on the 465 be swapped to a 32 spline and the same for the 205?

Would a different adapter be needed if this was done?

Also don't know if you're able to tell from the photo, but does that look like slip or fixed yoke?

The pic doesn't show enough of the rear of the tcase to tell if it's a bolt on or slip style tail shaft.

Yes it can all be converted to 32 spline but why? Going doubler or just want a 32 spline 465/205? It would be an expensive conversion.

It will be easier and cheaper to find and buy the 32 spline version up front. By the time you get done with the machining of the transfercase case, you probably will spend about what it cost to buy a 32 spline transfercase.

My 10 spline 205 has been holding up just fine in my doubler. Using NWF doubler kit. But then again I do not have a healthy big block under the hood, just a mild small block.

They work fine. I assume you are going to just use it as is? If so I would recommend buying a new power coupler before installing. The other thing is they like to pop out of second. There is an update for that as well, but you have to disassemble the entire transmission.

I'd want to separate the t-case and transmission and inspect the output shaft splines on the transmission before buying --the 10 splined one I bought for my 72 K5 had the splines all worn in a "hooked" fashion and it ate the coupler up in short order, and the new coupler I installed didn't take 4 months before it was loose enough to rattle, and would probably have failed in another year or so had I not sold the truck first..
..I hear that happens about as often as the popping out of gear dilema does on them..
