Long story short i have a TH350 with a broken case. Trans is good but the case is broken. I picked up a Bad TH350 with a good case. So i am removing the guts from the one with the broken case and placing them inside the TH350 with a good case.

While taking the Trans with the bad case apart i came to the point where you removed the Low/Reverse Sprag. Well to my suprise this is not a stock Low/Reverse Sprag from a TH350. At least not the ones i have seen. So i need to I.D. this Sprag and find out how to remove it. It does not have the Snap Ring the O.E. Sprag is supposed to have.

Well with alot of internet searching i found out that this sprag seems to be a performance upgrade. One of the weak links to the TH350 is the Low/Reverse Sprag. So i guess its a plus, but i still need more info (For Example how do you remove and install it) if anyone has any info please reply. Thanks.

bump for ya, I'd like to know too.

I appreciate the bump:D

Actually since i didnt get any feedback on this i decided to jump in head first. I removed the bolts and the plate came off to reveal the O.E. Low/Reverse Sprag underneath. From what i gather the Low/Reverse Sprag in the TH350 is a weak link. It seems to me that this plate with the bolts in it keeps the Sprag from rotating under heavy use thus protecting the case from damage. Whoever rebuilt this Trans drilled and tapped holes in the O.E. Sprag and placed this Steel Plate over it to beef it up. Not sure if you can buy this Steel plate or make one. If any Tranny guy's look at this and my info is wrong please respond. Anyway this is what i have found.

Here is a pic of the Sprag and Plate seperated.

Oh and by the way although i am an Auto Tech i have never rebuilt a trans before so this is all new to me but kinda fun.:D

This is how we all learn. Just jump in head first and pray it works when you're done. I'm like that, why pay someone to do what i'm sure we can do ourselves. It just takes guts to step up and actually do it.

Absolutly right. Its the Challenge that drives me. I love the Challenge of working on a component that alot of people are scared to touch.
So we will see should be a fun ride though.:D
