OK long story short...
owner sells truck to guy 1
guy 1 loses paper saying he bought it, it sits for 5 years...

I buy from guy 1 who swears he has title...

I put all my crap on this K5 and the guy cant and doesnt want to look for the title...

SO...

If someone has a title to a 73-75 k5 lying around with a vin tag or 2 lemme know... i got $$$

Too late now, but you should have held back the cash until the title was produced. The guy has no incentive to find it for you now. Did you at least get a bill of sale, proving that you bought it from him?

And yes, he should be able to file for a replacement title, which he could then sign over to you.

He!!, drive it down to AZ file lost title. it goes in as reconstructed and then you take it to WA. re register it an walah you got truck, legaly now...
he he. AZ has a cool lost title deal. ya just say you found the truck in the desert and if nobody claims it in 4 years its yours. you keep it for the 4 years. but if you register it in another state in that 4 years then it is yours for keeps...
he he, kinda messed up but it works..
and no you cant have my 74 title or vin tag. i only have one vin tag anyway... and it is the one o the door jamb...

Yeah, that AZ "reconstruct" thing is pretty cool. That's how I'll title mine. In my case, with no identifiable body (i.e. I didn't use a CJ7 or K5 tub or something) I can call it anything I want and they will issue a new VIN. I just have to have a level 3 safety inspection (seat belts, windshield and the like) plus head/brake/tail lights (don't even need turn signals) and mud flaps (there is a bit more but that's the short list). As for smog, all I have to do is meet a sniff test based on minimum standards. No visual "tampering" inspection required, no cats, no smog pump, nothing... Ahhhhh, gotta love AZ sometimes...

That's pretty slick.. the az thing.. i know alotta people down there too I lived on E. Northern by the mtn for 2 years!!! I Miss AZ.. Can I come visit you guy's!!!
Miss the Hot women too!!! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

WEll here is what you can do in michigan. I have done it 3 times. Take vehicle call the cops they came out ran the vin shows its not reported stolen hands ya form take it to the secetary of state give it to em pay 15 bucks and I got a new title.. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

Pretty simple here.

With a "reconstruct", they don't care what it "was". But they require something behind the tires, that is, a body that comes low enough or mud flaps...

a body that comes low enough...
lol
You go tthat problem too huh... lol....
