If am going with 1 tons in my k5, do I still need to get the spring for a 1/2 ton. Also what are the opinions on the bds or rough country for a suspension lift or are there other manufactures that I should be looking into. Thanks.

ORD puts a nice package together. 6"? What size tire do you plan to run.

Tire size is depending on the springs. I am planning on running 35-38. Might get some of the military tires, have to lift it first.

I wasn't sure if ord would have a stiffer spring. I will be driving on the highway as well, and I have heard some of the guys on here having problems with there lifts. Just want a descent ride on the highway.

I got a cheapie kit from 4 wheel parts several years ago and it was a rough ride but has since softened up. I've got some weight up front too. That'll get you some springs, steering arm,and shocks(I started with blocks in the back). Add a shackle flip and some braided brake lines and your good for 35's. 37's gunna need some trimming if you plan to use it. Everything stays when you go with tonner axles:D

I just ordered a new set of 3/4t springs in 56". With a shackle flip it gives you 4" and the spring pack is about 1.5 " thicker than a stock K5 spring pack, plus a little more on the shackle. Now they are stiffer than a K5 52" spring, but they are longer, and can be tuned by taking some leaves out if softer springs are wanted.
I can get you specs if you want.

bds / tuff country / off road design custom or tuff country kits.

rough country / super lift = ride bad and vary stiff.

going from 1/2 ton to true 1 ton get you about 1" so 35-38 will be good with 6" kit. 38" will be on the edge. possible trimming needed.

and the 37" hummer tires are good cheep bang for the buck if you dont mind 16.5 tire/rims.

you have started out right. use the search button here and read / read / and read somemore. tons of correct info and story's on the right and wrong ways to do it.

good luck and ask questions if you dont find what you need.

fyi most people ad 1=2" in the rear on blazer/suburbans for leveling out the ride. as thay sag in the back.

Thanks, but the flip probably will not work as well for me. I have a boat I tow ocassionally, I know that set-up should give more flex, but around here it is mostly mud and water, not a whole lot of rocks.

Thanks I have looked so much I get the rough and tuff country confused at times. I do use the search button a lot, I just get a lot of threads, so much info.

i tow and haul and run 4k lbs of gravel on my flatbed. oh and i have a 4" flip.

i flip every one of my trucks. the ride is much much better in the end. and get greaseable bushing kits like off road design sells. makes it ride even better.

I was thinking you'll need that to clear the 38's

i got a friend in pickens sc . you near there ?

Man in south carolina you are never far from one place to the next. I go to pickens occasionally, it's a small place as well. Where I live I can be anywhere in the state in 2 hours tops.
