Needing some advice on a current project

I am currently looking to rebuild my 1989 TJ jeep, I was looking to know how well a 305 carb engine would due in such a project? its main purpose is to be strictly off road so fuel mileage is not a bother

I would only go 305 if you have a line on a cheap one. Otherwise, might as well go 350. Other than that, they are a bit of a tight fit and you will need to consider your trans, t-case, axles, etc as to if they are up for the job.
