what is out there for our old trucks these days? i need somthing to help me in my dd dutys of the truck. its 6" on 35" rubber. ya ya i know old man cant climb up in truck.

i am about ready to just build up a set and be done. but help or good set for fair price would be fine. looks like a few bracket mode and a set for a jeep wrangler would work i think.

Wow, we're thinking alike. The wife is going to kill me before too long. No lift and 38's means her stubby little legs have a hard time getting into it. I enjoy the experience though.:D

My plans are some square tubing to replace my rockers and then some DOM tubing as rocker bars/nerf bars...

...but I'm poor and the wife is short so that's not happening soon.

I would like some steps or nerf bars for sure...but yeah...no one has anything like this for us anymore that I could find.

Smittybuilt makes nerf bars, I have them in my K5. Sorry for the dark pic, but you can see the bar...

I have a feeling Smittybilt's bars are an obsolete item as their website doesn't list them and Summit Racing doesn't either.

Well don't do like I did, I ordered Polished stainless steel ones from desert rats garage sale for only around 150 bucks, the ones for a 2000 suburban ( mine is a 91 ) thinking I could make them fit. Well i did make them fit but it took a little more work then I really wanted, but was already comitted. I had to cut 9 inches out and weld them back together to make them the right lenght, then make brackets, but Finally they turned out lookin Damn good. here are a couple pics.

These are the brackets I had to fabricate and install to mount the nurf bars.

Nice work.

I can't weld...which is a problem up here. I think I'll look into either having some nerfs made or just doing something like the ol' chain steps referenced above.

I think rock sliders are your best bet for somethin prefabbed for our rigs since eberyone else went belly up. but they are kinda pricey, i got mine from smitty but awesome as they are they called it quits a while ago as far as i know.

Smittybilt's still around and thriving they just called it quits on anything past the 90's bodystyles a while back.

Actually...their bare bones nerf is still around for the Suburbans of our body style.

I would look at a fabricated rock-slider kind of bar. A lot of Nerf bars are really thin walled. They are fine for steps but they crumble when you hit rocks. I have seen a lot of them ripped off and laying in the woods.

I want rock sliders and all that...but that will happen when the rockers get cut off and the square tube goes in. That requires money and skill I don't have right now.
I actually have a standing offer to have it done...just don't have the money for the tube or the 3 hour drive each way to get Big Ugly there.

I figure after that adding the tube would be easy. Something like DPI's stuff would be nice.
