These trucks will run when you think there is no way they should still be going!

Long story short, the 4 bolts holding the tcase crossmember up to the frame rails fell out and or broke off. Death wobble I believe had something to do with this. When the crossmember finally dropped from the frame rail the distributor got smashed into the firewall and was basically the only thing keeping the t case rear output off the ground.

The damage that the distributor cap and rotor sustained was pretty extensive but it just kept running. Of course it was missing pretty bad but it got me home. Gotta love these old trucks.

Replaced the cap and rotor and generally inspected everything else as well as replacing the crossmember bolts and we're rollin' again!:haha:

haha that is pretty intense, two of my bolts were loose and i tighertened em up, i still need to get lockwashers..if i were you, double nut it, lock washer, and lock tite

Tacked the end of the bolts!

Pics coming. Didn't take any of the t case hangin' down that had to be fixed on the side of the road.

Thay are durable.
Here is what my 73 looked like after a backward corkscrew roll off a hill into trees at 50 miles per hour. (back in 1996)
I popped the clutch linkage back in and pulled the hood off and drove it home from the tow yard.

Here is what it looks like now. Last year I had to weld the frame back together after completely cracking both framerails apart. I towed 60 vehicles with it last week.

I think this is fairly common on these trucks for some reason. I have lost the passenger side bolts on mine twice. I got new bolts with pinch nuts and lock washers with red loc-tite on there now with no probs in two years.
