My 1990 3/4 ton with 6" lift and almost 200k has been interesting to drive, you kind of pointed it in the general direction, it never gave you that warm fuzzy feeling of control. well i had enough of that and since i'm not getting rid of it for a long time, it was time for some love.
Ordered a reid knuckle from ord and high steer kit, since i was doing that what the heck just add on the PSC hydraulic assist steering, so the front axle got completely torn down and all new parts. plus some bfg all terrains and new wheels, oh and new steering column

Wow what a difference, thing drives like a dream

I'm very impressed with mine, it doesn't act like it should. Very predictable and pleasant to drive, the few people that have drove it were amazed as well.

Driving with hydro assist is frickin awesome. Everything shaking from the 42s but the steering wheel.

Does that kit work on lower lift heights? I've been wanting it for my 79, but with just 2.5-3 inch lift, I wasn't sure it would work, or even be worth the hassle.

You can do push pull assist. Crossover is tight but I believe doable with a less bent drag link than pictured.

So you have to cut and weld the ram bracket every time the tie rod end wears out?

thats when a HD tie rod kit comes in to play . but then to adjust toe in/out you would need a clamp on ram mount and lots of guys have had fun keeping them tight .

Ive ran crossover with that lift, you can do it but will need an aftermarket engine crossmember like ORDs, The hydro assist will work with whatever tie rod you use with some modification.

I weld a small tab to the tie rod on each side of the clamp. That way I can still rotate the tie rod but the clamp cant slide side to side if it comes a little loose.
