Ok, so i've been working out of a plastic crappy toolbox in my truck since i was 16. Ive started carrying a lot more tools full time, and it was getting really cramped and unorganized.

I looked into teh craftsman rayy 4drawer box, and it sucked. Went to lowes, then home depot. Didnt' find any boxes i liked, except this:

Black husky brand, Ball bearing, 6 drawer tool box. Last one they had, missing keys, cosmetic damage, already marked down to $87 from $109.

All drawers functioned fine, had handles. Took it up to customer serivce, told them i needed a box NOW, and it was the last box even close to its size in stock, but was damanged. Got it for $60. Went home, pulled the husky /ball bearing emblems off it, lined the drawers, and stocked it up. Its HEAVY to move in and out of the burb, but it won't get removed very often. I'm stoked! Hard to organize all the crap that used to live in teh bottom of my box, but most of it ended up in the bottom drawer. I got one of those plastic clear nut/bolt boxes to take the stuff from teh top trays in teh old box. Kinda inconvient, but the nature of the beast i guess.

Even has a selectable drawer lock under the lid, so the lid doesn't have to be open to open drawers, but drawers can still be locked when needed. I'll often have the back of the burb PACKED, so it will be sweet to be able to open the tailgate and pull the drawers out without having to make room to open the lid, like i woudl have to on the craftsman boxes.

Anyways, not a pro box by any means, but it will get a lot of use/abuse in the back of my burb, and its SO Much better than what i had. I'm stoked. When i get back to my Davis garage, i'm considering putting drawer liner on the lid, as i'll probably work on top of the box fairly often. Also need to get my CK5 subculture sticker added , probably under the lid, with others.

Pics show old box on top.

For what your doing its a great box:bow: A spendier box is probably not the answer in this case. Just make sure you make it hard to steal:wink1:

We have a box just like that in our service truck to toss some misc tools we use all the time in and it's held up pretty well. After a couple of years the lock fell apart but the drawers still slide in and out smoothly.

Thanks! Yah, gotta find a way to secure it still, probably a cable through a rear seat mount.

Another possibility for securing it is with carriage bolts coming from the outside - in, so that the threads are inside the box itself. Thats how I do my bed mounted tool boxes. Another possibility is a couple pieces of flatstock that is drilled and threaded for a bolt, and possibly tack welded to the floor. Then the bolt heads will be inside the box.

Yah, good suggestions, but i need to be able to remove it quickly when needed.
