Bought a new compressor from Rock Auto. Looks exactly the same as what I have but with one exception- the Clutch Switch Pigtail is at the 12 o clock position, instead of the 9 o’clock. I could grind my bracket, I could take a brand new compressor apart to re clock it.

have y’all had this issue? I hate to waste my time on stupid crap like this.

You may already be aware ... Just Be sure you prep the Compressor just like the instructions tell you to ... Also Four Seasons has a "Clutch" tool used to break the compressor free so it will turn as required ... I did not have one, but rigged something to work ... it was a pain, but I was successful. I would defiantly get the spanner wrench ...

Good Luck.

This is the reason to drain any new compressor and refill with correct oil and amount. You should be able to turn any open disc compressor by hand, after installed.
The disc holding tool is used with the disc puller.

I called four seasons today. It comes prefilled with 3oz of PAG150. They mentioned I would need to add any additional oil the total system requires. He mentioned the compressor comes very tight and hard to turn so a clutch wrench will help get it going, once it’s installed and you decide to start the motor and charge the system.

Yeah i just installed a Four Seasons compressor on my 01 burb. I didn't try to turn before I drained, the drained oil look to be the correct amount, but who knows if the correct type. Or if the oil is compatible with oil you will use in the rest of the system. Always turn the clutch disc while draining to be sure as much oil as possible is removed and from places it's not supposed to be.

Sometime when the compressor sits on a shelf for an extended time period the oil can creep to back side. This will make the disc very hard to turn. It is not worth the hassle of trusting minimum wage assembly worker to add the correct amount oil to your brand compressor, plus the cost of freon, oil flush o rings recovery and my time and inconvenience, for $10.00 bottle of oil.

Yes, my Four Season Compressor did come full as well. I drained all of the oil, rotated the disc the prescribed times, and then refilled with PAG 150, I believe. I changed everything in my system .... new evaporator, Condenser, Dryer/Accumulator, orfice tube, Hoses, and naturally the charge fittings so that there was not any chance the system would fail. I believe the System holds 8 oz of oil when full ... 3 compressor and balance in Evap, Condenser, and Accumulator / Dryer

I did add the new High Pressure Switch to the Compressor, i tied it into the green line from the Pressure Switch on the Accumulator / Dryer.
