So i went and had a new alarm installed that can be tracked. Compustar 7905a is the model number. I have had people record my blazer and follow me around.
I came out of Walmart on more than one occasion and people where all around looking in under my Blazer. I am not ok with this, so i now can track it with the alarms app.
It was a little on the expensive side. But having a little piece of mind is worth it . a bonus is once armed you can not start the Blazer with the system armed.
and it texts me when it goes off. only 12 bucks a month.
still playing with all the features but so far i like it.

May I ask how you decided on that system?

I haven't researched any of them. I would be skeptical of all of them. And considering that I fail to understand how late model stuff gets stolen often, I wonder how and aftermarket company can make something better.

just went and asked for an alarm that has tracking, has remote start capability but needs a module to make work.
alarm has a starter interrupt so no start when alarm is armed

So count me in on the skepticism. Besides the obvious hook and book maneuver to tow it off, Alarm blaring. Defeating the system as far as the alarm and tracking is as simple as breaking in, popping the hood and disconnecting the battery. Unless the tracking has a separate power source from the truck it’s dead as soon as the main battery is disconnected.

Thief’s are getting smart enough to know which fuses to pull to defeat onstar on modern gm vehicles. No onstar, no tracking or disabling the vehicle remotely.

Alarms still are a deterrent. Anything that is going to require more time to deal with may cause them to move on to an easier target. So it’s not a bad thing to have one. But keep in mind like has been said before if someone wants your ride bad enough they can take it. Being smart about where you park and where you go with it in addition to the alarm and tracking will help.

Crappy to think about.

well there is always a way , but some jack ass following me home from walmart or 7-11 isnt going to get it with a screw driver and a coat hanger

No but the rock laying in your landscaping is a lot easier.

I’ve noticed someone following me before and you know what? The last thing I did was drive right to my house. Drive around another area until they stop and then go home.

I'm trying to decide if I should feel insulted or relieved that I've never been followed. :o
You just aren’t hanging out in the right areas.

But then again where I used to live I made a point not to roll up to my house with the tunes cranked to tip my hat on what I had inside. It also made me less of an a-hole to the neighbors.

A couple of my cars had been broken into with them sitting in the driveway. One with a rock from my landscaping others because someone forgot to lock a door. My house was not in a bad part of Pueblo but I was on a street that had direct access to two main roads that undesirable folks could roll in and out of pretty easy.

I typically parked my daily driver S10 directly behind my K5 to block it in and avoid theft.

I keep one car parked directly behind my blazer in the driveway. C10 is in the garage.
I don't live in a bad area but these trucks are popular, so you never know.

Gpsandtrack is what I use. Starter disable. Real time tracking on my phone. No sound. Internal battery for 72 hours if the truck battery is disabled. I can set perimeter limits on location or any movement will notify me.

$160 for the unit with 2 years of unlimited tracking. $29 a year after that.

When you call with questions, they answer and are US based.

Dot know if it has battery back up but everything else tracking starter interrupt set geo limits
