Recently I purchased a 1987 K5 Blazer. I bought it knowing it would be a project truck so working on it hasn't really bothered me. I tried to smog it and it failed. Not horribly. But the HC count was about 40 over what it should be. The smog tech told me I needed a tune up. So I did and then it failed horribly... When it's running you can feel a slight miss and it smells...well rich.
In the pictures..I have no idea where the plugs are supposed to go and I'm having a problem finding a decent picture of it online..
It's a 305 TBI.
Thanks for the help guys.

you lost me here... can you explain better.. spark plugs? do you mean the firing order? it sounds like you have a plug wire crossed..

ok, now I see them...

the first pic is the fuel pump relay.. if the truck starts, it's fine...

as far as the plug wires.. you should always replace them one at a time to avoid not hooking them up right...

if the distributor hasn't been messed with, the tower facing the #1 cylinder is usually #1.. they are than laced clockwise 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2

to be sure, you'll need to take the dizzy cap off, find TDC, and lace them according to that...

The wire I was asking about is the yellow wire on the Ignition Coil.

Probably tach connection. You probably have the plug wires wrong. Common mistake.

I just pulled the codes. 12 and 42 it looks like. Searching for them online now.
